Get your Foot in the Door with SaSR!
New or Pending applicants to Set and Service Resources are eager to start working! Sometimes it may take a bit of time to be assigned their first job with SaSR. There could be variety of reasons as to why you may not be assigned a job right away after applying for a job. Some examples include specific client requirements for skills or experience or a high competition for jobs in your area. Or other SaSR employees who have already proven themselves as professional and dependable are offered and assigned the jobs first.
So how do you get the chance to prove yourself as dependable and professional so you will get assigned jobs with Set and Service Resources? There are several excellent strategies including tips from SaSR Associates that can greatly improve your chances of getting your foot in the door with SaSR.
Complete all sections of your profile:
SaSR Schedulers review your profile to assess your fit for the job. If you have not completed all sections such as the Questionnaire or Employment History, you are selling yourself short. These are the areas of your profile where you need to sell your skills and experience as the best person for the job.
Is all of your Notification Setting set to the maximum for to get the best search results? An often made mistake is removing work types from the available list. One such example is removing the work type Merchandising – Product or any of the Store Set work types. Associates will often ask why they cannot see a certain advertised job on their SaSR dashboard and it is because they removed the work type from their notifications settings page. Apply for Jobs and Follow up
Always apply through the website for jobs of interest. Schedulers often lament about an associate who emails “Hi, I am interested in the job offer. I can work for you” but fail to apply at the SaSR website as instructed.
Manette M. suggests “Keep applying -it takes a while to get your first job”. Persistence pays! Search and apply for as many jobs as possible at Set and Service Resources to increase your chances of being assigned your first job.
SaSR Account manager Trish Thorpe advises that you will greatly increase your chances of being assigned the job if you apply for all available days on a job. SaSR clients like the same people to follow through from the beginning to the end of the job. She also suggests using the comments section when applying… Using statements like “I can…, I will…and I would like to…” will go a lot further than “I can’t…, I won’t… and I don’t want to...”.
Rita S. adds “…email the schedulers!”. After applying for the job at the SaSR website, follow-up with an email to the scheduler to express your interest in the job. This is a great way to keep yourself in front of the scheduler. But be sure to include all your associate ID #, the job number you have already applied for and a quick summary of skills. Or you can visit our Facebook page and express your interest in working with the SaSR team, again including your associate ID # and job number you are interested in.
Gain Experience
Karen C. notes “use SASR (to gain) experience in this field”. When you have little or no merchandising experience, consider taking short temp labor or one time project work. These are an excellent way to gain work experience. With experience on your profile, you will have a better chance at securing more work with SaSR.
Be Flexible
Short Notice or applying as a Back-up is a quick way to get your foot in the door with Set and Service Resources! If someone else was assigned to the job but was unable to complete, Schedulers will turn to those who have applied as a back-up to complete the job.
Jenni G. recommends “ …be willing to travel”. Consider jobs a little further from home to get your reputation established with SaSR. This is a business decision you will have to make for your particular circumstances. But keep in mind, the more jobs you complete proving yourself as dependable and professional, will result in more jobs being assigned to you!
Once you are assigned your first job with SaSR, be remembered for all of the right reasons! Caitlin H., Kathleen C. and Gary B. advises “Be a professional” , “Go to work, do what is asked of you” & “Be an example to others not an example of what NOT to be”. Errol V. and Chris W. add “once you are assigned, do not change your mind - your co-workers expect you to be there to work. “ & “If you’re not at least 5 minutes early to your assignment your late.”
Just apply, apply apply.... And don't get discouraged! It may take a bit of time to build your reputation with Set and Service Resources but once established, you will be rewarded by being assigned more jobs!
